Alrighty, I haven't updated in a while but I'm getting there!!!!!

Loyalty came first.

Always first.

That thought had been drilled into his mind since he was a child. Loyalty first. Desire later. Loyalty first. Desire later. Loyalty first.

It was a mantra that seemed so natural when he was younger: loyalty to country first and worry about having fun later. Loyalty to the people first and forget the desire to see Vicant dead.

Loyalty.

How he cursed the word now. Every fiber of his being chastised him for letting her go without saying something. Doing something.

Abruptly Torrine turned and ordered the camp to move faster. Calmly.

He was always calm- at least on the outside.  Inwardly he was seething with rage against himself. Rage against fate and the world itself for dangling something so treasured in front of him (for the better part of his life), and at the moment he finally recognized her for what she was, snatched her from his grasp and into the cruel hands of fate.
